Only Hunter Valley Fruit
In 1990, Scarborough Wine Co. released their first Chardonnay, the 1987 Yellow Label. From its conception, Scarborough made the commitment that their range of wines was to be from only Hunter Valley fruit. Scarborough Wine Co. has remained true to this philosophy of producing wines that reflect the terroir of the vineyards they are sourced from.
Aged Prior to Release
In 1987, Scarborough Wine Co. made a variety and style (oak, fruit, colour) of Chardonnay that was in demand at the time and one that is still growing today. To create a niche for themselves in the wine market, Ian and Merralea Scarborough decided that all wines would be aged prior to release. This aging philosophy still exists today and is one of the distinctive features that defines Scarborough Wine Co. as producing great quality, reasonably priced wines that are mostly aged and ready to drink.
Classic Packaging
Ian and Merralea Scarborough made a selection of simple and classic packaging with unique colours. The current labelling of all Scarborough Wine Co. remains true to this ideal and has not changed since its first release in 1987.
